The student ministry of Clemmons UMC is a place where all students grades 7-12 are welcome to explore the issues of faith, purpose of life, and how to find one's identity. Questions are encouraged, and some good answers will hopefully be supplied as well. Through relevant teaching, trained adult volunteers, and authentic worship experiences we seek to transform students into disciples of Jesus Christ.
We are all in this journey of life together, and we believe that as we Love God, Love Others, and Love Ourselves that we can not only find the purpose of life for ourselves, but then discover how to give that life away to others so that they too may find life in Christ.
The students of Clemmons UMC have many areas to be involved; ways that are all connected with one another:
- Sunday AM (sunday school) 9:50 - Clemmons UMC follows the Sunday school model and your student attending Sunday AM can be a main entry point into our student ministry. (classes meet in room number listed) Grade 7-8 A102 Grade 9-12 A105. Students that attend Sunday AM are then encouraged to attend...
- Sunday PM: Sundays @ 5:00-7:00 - this is the place where all students in the Winston metro area are encouraged to come encounter God through relevant teaching, authentic worship, small group study, and some crazy fun thrown in. Along with that, a meal is also served ($3). Students who attend Sunday PM are encouraged to show their faith by their works, which leads to...
- Large Group Serve Opportunities (1x semester) - we believe that faith is only real when it is lived out, and service in our community not only strengthens our community, it also grows our faith. Once a semester, the entire student ministry will be mobilized to be the loving hands & feet of Christ in the Winston metro area.
- Individual Serve Opportunities (weekly) - Personal service is born out of a personal commitment, and there are many opportunities to serve at Clemmons UMC: Sunday greeters & ushers, nursery attendants, tech crew assistance, musicians for our worship services, and even serving in Clemmons UMC's excellent Food Pantry, which assists the less fortunate of our immediate community with food assistance. We believe that willfull & joyful service is a mark of a Christ follower, and weekly service not only supports the work of the church, it allows teenagers a chance to literally have a chance to "be the church".
- Off-Campus Events/Trips (1x per semester for both middle school & high school) the students of Clemmons UMC regularly have fun events in the city, things like: lock-ins, dodge ball tournaments, hay rides, live shows, etc. While these events are relevant places our students are encouraged to invite their friends to, they are also places where real Christian community is happening, and all are invited!
- Carolina Cross Connection (CCC) - GRADES RISING 9TH-12 ONLY the students of Clemmons UMC (rising 9th & above) attend CCC each summer, helping the less fortunate across the mountains of North Carolina. This is THE event of our entire year, and we strongly encourage all students to attend. We're kind of CCC-crazy like that. Registration officially ends the winter of each year, so get your student signed up today!
- SpiritUs - all rising 7th-8th graders are strongly encouraged to join us on our yearly trip to SpiritUs at Oak Island, NC! It's a weekend of spiritual teaching, great worship and service to the community around the camp we stay in. For more information, visit the SpiritUs website.
