

At the Clemmons UMC student ministry, we value and cherish our volunteers. Without volunteers, our work would be impossible. We spend a lot of time sowing into our volunteers, because they are the ones who consistently provide a godly example on a personal level that is critical to Christian discipleship. By attending trips, leading a small group, or making a phone call to a student during the week, volunteers can be the conduit of God in a way that 1 or 2 staff people could never be (the staff, however, still hangs out with students, though!).
Students (as do most people) need mentors to help them along in their faith journey. We believe that student ministry isn't about a huge program, or huge crowds, or even the glitziest program. While those things can be good and/or necessary at times, they are secondary to fruitful/godly relationships that create Christ-like character in students. Volunteers create relationships, which adds substance. The volunteer-student friendship provides strength & health to the Christian community that nothing else can compare to.
